Under direction, The Pretrial Specialist II is a journey‑level position that performs a full range of pretrial assessment, supervision, and case management duties with moderate independence. Employees in this role evaluate individuals referred for pretrial release consideration, verify background information, administer validated risk assessment tools, and prepare written reports and recommendations to support judicial decision‑making. Pretrial Specialist II monitors compliance with court‑ordered conditions, maintain accurate case documentation, and communicate regularly with clients, court personnel, attorneys, and partner agencies. The Pretrial Specialist II handles more complex or sensitive cases than entry‑level staff, applies sound judgment in interpreting pretrial policies and requirements, and may provide guidance or informal mentoring to lower‑level personnel. Work is performed in a fast‑paced justice system environment that requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to interact professionally with diverse populations.
