Assistant Director

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 & representing over 110,000 veterinarians working in private & corporate practice, government, industry, academia, & uniformed services, is seeking an Assistant Director to join our Education & Research Division . Structured to work for its members, AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership & for the profession. Our mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members & advancing the science & practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal & human health. Reporting to the Chief of Academic Affairs, Research & Accreditation, the Assistant Director will perform functions to assist the Chief Officer to propose, develop & implement AVMA policies & programs concerning veterinary research, veterinary specialty board certification, specialists in academia, specialists in practice & industry, & the AVMA Veterinary Clinical Trials Registry. They will work closely with AVMA governance entities in the execution of duties. The Assistant Director will provide primary professional staff support for the Council on Research (COR), the American Board of Veterinary Specialties (ABVS), & the Veterinary Specialty Organizations Committee (VSOC), & other governance entities as needed; they will also serve as the principal administrator of the AVMA Veterinary Clinical Trials Registry (VCT).
