We are seeking an experienced Automation Architect to join our team, ideally based in Canberra (with Melbourne or Sydney also considered for the right candidate). In this high-impact architectural role, you will take ownership of designing, defining, and governing automated platform strategies and reusable infrastructure patterns across a complex multi-cloud enterprise environment (primarily Azure, alongside AWS). You will sit at the intersection of enterprise architecture, DevSecOps, and secure platform engineering, serving as the technical authority who bridges high-level government security requirements with scalable, "as-a-service" platform delivery. What You’ll Be Doing (Architectural Scope) Strategic Automation Architecture: Lead the architectural design and definition of reusable, enterprise-grade Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns, CI/CD orchestration workflows, and "as-a-service" platform capabilities across Azure and AWS. Multi-Cloud & Hybrid Integration: Design complex integration topologies connecting infrastructure, hybrid networking (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPNs), multi-account cloud routing, and identity/access management (IAM) frameworks. Governance & Standards: Establish platform engineering standards, DevSecOps best practices, and automation guardrails to ensure all deployments align with enterprise architecture and government security baselines.
