Listed as a remote role based in Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden. 4 days in office, must be able to work in office - Stockholm. Senior Backend Engineer We're partnering with an innovative technology company that's continuing to invest heavily in its engineering function. They're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership, and building scalable, high-quality software within a collaborative product team. This is an opportunity to work on technically interesting problems in a modern engineering environment where your ideas and contributions will have genuine influence. The Opportunity You'll become part of a small, experienced engineering team responsible for designing, developing and evolving a core software platform. Engineers are trusted to own features from design through to deployment while working closely with Product, Design and the wider Engineering team. Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and SQL databases . Contribute to the architecture of distributed systems with a focus on scalability, reliability and maintainability. Work across backend services and cloud infrastructure to support highly available production systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and continuously improve the platform. Champion engineering best practices including code quality, testing, observability and performance. Help drive technical decisions and mentor other engineers where appropriate. Tech Environment You'll be working with modern technologies including: TypeScript Node.js SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) Modern frontend technologies where required What They're Looking For Strong commercial experience building backend applications with Node.js . Excellent understanding of relational databases and SQL. Experience designing and operating cloud-native applications. Strong understanding of software architecture and distributed systems. Experience building scalable, production-grade applications. A collaborative approach and willingness to take ownership.
