About the Role We are looking for a motivated Data & AI Engineer to join our technical team and help us design, build and deploy practical Data and AI solutions for customers across multiple industries. This is a hands on delivery role spanning Data Engineering, Cloud Platforms, Analytics and applied Artificial Intelligence. You will work across the full solution lifecycle, from understanding the business requirement and preparing data through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. The role is not limited to experimentation or isolated model development. You will help turn Data and AI use cases into reliable production solutions, including data pipelines, warehouses, lakehouses, analytical applications, AI assistants, document intelligence and workflow automation. You will work closely with engineers, project managers and customer stakeholders. The role is suited to someone with approximately 2 to 3 years of relevant experience who wants to deepen their technical expertise, take increasing ownership and grow with an expanding Data and AI company. What You Will Do Data Engineering and Cloud Platforms Design, develop and maintain reliable data pipelines, integrations and transformation workflows. Build solutions using services such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics and related Azure technologies. Develop ETL and ELT processes that integrate data from databases, APIs, files, cloud platforms and third party systems. Contribute to the design and implementation of data warehouses, lakehouses, dimensional models and analytical datasets. Monitor pipelines, investigate failures and improve the performance, resilience and maintainability of existing solutions. Apply appropriate data quality, validation, security and documentation practices throughout delivery. Applied AI and Automation Develop and deploy practical AI solutions that address clearly defined customer and internal business requirements. Build AI enabled applications using large language models, retrieval augmented generation, document intelligence, analytical assistants and workflow automation. Prepare and structure data for AI use cases, including extraction, enrichment, indexing and evaluation workflows. Experiment with models, prompts and solution patterns, then help move successful prototypes into reliable customer deployments. Evaluate AI outputs and improve solution accuracy, traceability, reliability and user experience. Contribute to responsible AI delivery through appropriate testing, monitoring, access controls and human review. Analytics, Software and Delivery Develop SQL queries, semantic models, analytical datasets and reporting solutions that support business decision making. Support the delivery of Power BI reports, dashboards and data models where required. Write clean, reusable and well documented code using Python, SQL and other relevant technologies. Develop or integrate APIs and software components where needed to connect Data and AI solutions with customer systems. Participate in solution design, estimation, testing, deployment, documentation, customer training and technical support. Contribute to AperturesConnect and other HippoScripts platforms where Data, Analytics, integrations or AI capabilities are required. Collaboration and Ownership Work with customers and project stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into practical technical solutions. Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, AI Engineers, software developers and Project Managers throughout the delivery lifecycle. Communicate progress, technical risks and dependencies clearly and raise issues early. Contribute to internal standards, reusable components, technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives. Take increasing ownership of technical workstreams as your knowledge and experience develop. What We Are Looking For Education and Experience A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics or a related discipline. Approximately 2 to 3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, AI, software development or a related technical role. Practical experience contributing to Data or AI solutions that progressed beyond experimentation into testing, deployment or operational use. Core Technical Skills Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL. Experience building data pipelines, integrations or transformation processes. Experience working with relational databases, structured data and data modelling concepts. Understanding of Data Warehousing, dimensional modelling, lakehouse or modern Data Platform concepts. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or another major Cloud Platform. Experience using Git or another version control platform. Ability to test, troubleshoot and document technical solutions clearly. AI and Problem Solving Understanding of machine learning, large language models and applied Artificial Intelligence concepts. Experience experimenting with or implementing AI models, AI assistants, retrieval augmented generation or document processing solutions. Ability to assess when AI is appropriate and connect technical choices to a genuine business requirement. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with careful attention to data quality and detail. A practical mindset focused on building reliable solutions rather than demonstrations alone. Communication and Collaboration Strong written and spoken English. Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a growing team. A proactive approach, curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies. Experience That Would Be Considered an Advantage Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure SQL. Databricks, Spark or Lakehouse architectures. Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Services or Azure Machine Learning. Power BI, DAX, semantic modelling or Microsoft Analysis Services. API development, data extraction and system integration. C#, .NET or modern software development practices. Experience within financial services, logistics, manufacturing or other data intensive sectors.
