The Business Intelligence & Analytics function within Datavant Product is actively seeking a detail-oriented and impact-driven Senior Data Engineer to strengthen our capabilities around reporting, advanced analytics and data governance. This pillar focuses on building a scalable, trusted reporting platform that delivers consistent, transparent, and actionable insights across our different verticals and cross functional systems. In this role you will help mature our analytics portfolio, drive BI modernization, and enable operational visibility through data. You Will Build, maintain, and improve scalable data pipelines, data models, and warehouse infrastructure that power reporting, analytics, and operational workflows. Independently execute projects of moderate to high complexity, balancing speed, quality, maintainability, and operational reliability. Partner with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions and actionable datasets. Develop and maintain data workflows using Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow, and cloud-native tooling. Write performant, readable, reusable code and Infrastructure-as-Code following established engineering standards and best practices. Own the reliability and operational health of pipelines and systems through testing, monitoring, observability, alerting, and troubleshooting. Contribute to technical discussions, architecture reviews, and continuous improvements across the data platform. Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve productivity, troubleshooting, code quality, and developer experience. Collaborate closely with teammates through code reviews, documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational support. What You Will Bring To The Table 4+ years of experience in software development, analytics engineering, or data engineering, with a strong ownership mindset and ability to independently drive projects and solutions. AI-first mindset with experience or strong interest in using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT to improve productivity, troubleshooting, and development workflows. Strong proficiency in modern data modeling, SQL, and dbt, including building reliable, well-tested models and transformations for analytical and operational use cases. Hands-on experience with Python and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, including building reliable, observable, and maintainable data pipelines. Strong proficiency with cloud-based data platforms and infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or similar environments. Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar frameworks. Experience owning reliability for pipelines and systems through monitoring, testing, observability, operational support, and performance optimization practices. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders. Product-minded and execution-oriented, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver impactful solutions. Bonus Points For Prior experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry such as finance, insurance, or life sciences. Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies. Familiarity with modern data stack technologies such as dbt, Fivetran, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, Databricks, or streaming/event-driven architectures. Understanding of data governance, privacy, lineage, and compliance concepts such as HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2, or GDPR. Background as a Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar data-focused role. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, automated testing, and modern software engineering best practices. AWS, Azure, Snowflake, dbt, or Terraform certifications.
