The role Our infrastructure is at the heart of our success. We run a large agentic system on GCP that moves an enormous volume of data and keeps growing quickly. The only way to keep up is leverage: everything defined as code, everything automated, nothing dependent on one person’s attention. You will own our GCP and GKE estate, the deployment paths every engineer ships through, the event-driven backbone underneath, and the observability that tells us how the whole system behaves. You are accountable for one outcome above all: engineers deploy new services and ship many times a day, safely, without needing you in the loop. What you'll do Own and scale our GCP estate to best practice, defined as code. Terraform is the source of truth, not the console. Run our Kubernetes workloads on GKE, and turn the platform into something teams ship to on their own, many times a day. This is the core of the role. Own CI/CD end to end and make the fast path the safe path. Own SRE: monitoring, logging, metrics, SLOs and SLAs, and alerting that engineers trust and act on. Scale our event-driven backbone on Pub/Sub and the data services behind it: BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and MongoDB. Onboard new microservices and set up their supporting components: config management, and service-to-service networking. Improve reliability, scalability, and security continuously, partnering with security on least-privilege IAM, secrets management, and network policy. Automate relentlessly, including with AI agents. Anything done twice by hand is a candidate for deletion. What we're looking for The bar (non-negotiable, every role): Extreme drive and passion for the work and the mission. Extreme ability to learn fast and operate with confidence in uncertainty. Extreme IQ and EQ . You raise the level of every room, and you lose an argument gracefully the moment someone's right. For this role specifically: 5+ years running production cloud infrastructure, with deep hands-on GCP. AWS as background is fine, but GCP is where you will live. Solid production experience with Kubernetes, ideally GKE, and with Terraform. You have owned an estate, not filed tickets against one. Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines: building, managing, and improving them, ideally with GitHub Actions. Strong IT fundamentals: TCP/IP networking, data storage, security, disaster recovery, compliance. Hands-on with event-driven systems at volume (Pub/Sub or similar), including the failure modes that only appear under load. Experience with GCP data and storage services: BigQuery, Cloud SQL, MongoDB. Solid scripting skills in Python and Bash, and clear written English. We write more than we meet, so a poor design doc or runbook is a real cost. You have designed SRE practice rather than inherited it: SLOs and SLAs, monitoring, logging, and metrics. A strong desire to learn: you pick up new technologies quickly and adapt fast as our stack evolves.
