Engineering Lead

About the Role We're a fast-moving, early-stage B2B SaaS company building products in the identity and access management space. We're looking for an Engineering Lead to guide a small-to-medium engineering team, shape our technical direction, and drive the delivery of reliable, scalable software. This role blends hands-on technical judgment with people leadership — you'll set the bar for engineering quality while building an empowered, ownership-driven team culture. This is an on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA . Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. What You'll Do Lead and mentor a team of engineers to deliver against product goals and grow individual technical capabilities. Define and communicate technical strategy, architecture decisions, and roadmap priorities. Own delivery quality and operational reliability for services and systems. Collaborate closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to align engineering work with business objectives. Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, code review standards, and CI/CD workflows. Hire, develop, and retain strong engineering talent through hands-on coaching and structured feedback. Make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability in day-to-day implementation decisions. Foster a culture of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement across the team. What We're Looking For Must-haves: 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of delivering production software products. Prior experience shipping products in startups, early-stage companies, or similarly fast-paced environments. Hands-on software development experience with a modern web stack and a history of delivering production-quality systems. Experience architecting and delivering scalable back-end APIs, data models, and cloud infrastructure for web applications.
