The Role Hands-on engineer on a cross-domain team that automates manual work and inefficient processes across the organization. You don't just write code: you own the problem end to end — from understanding the business need to shipping in production and maintaining it. What You'll Do Understand manual work and reverse-engineer fragmented or unowned processes to pinpoint the real problem. Design and build automation solutions: backend services, workflow logic, data transformations, integrations, and internal tools. Integrate with existing systems (APIs, event streams, Kafka) and company data. Define impact KPIs with business and finance before starting, and measure the value delivered. Ship to production with tests, observability, alerting, and operational ownership. Leverage agentic coding / AI-enabled development within your workflow and as a core component of your automation architecture. Requirements Strong ability to write and review Python (backend) code. Experience with integration patterns and event-driven architecture (APIs, Kafka). Hands-on experience with data flows and databases ( MongoDB , Lakebase). Ability to build simple internal UIs in Next.js / TypeScript . Practical experience with agentic coding / AI-enabled development . Strong testing discipline (>90% coverage, spec-driven tests). Production ownership mindset and observability. Strong process thinking : quickly grasp business problems and turn ambiguity into working software. Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting contexts, and non-routine work. Profile Forward-deployed engineer, PI-shaped : broad enough to move across business, architecture, data, and delivery, with the depth to go deep when needed.
