About The Role As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer within the Predictive Models team at HubSpot, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our AI-driven products. This team is part of the AI Foundations Group and works closely with the Predictive AI Platform team to develop next-generation predictive insights, scoring mechanisms, and recommendation models. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and scaling advanced machine learning solutions that directly impact the company's product offerings and customer experience. You will leverage your deep understanding of machine learning techniques to lead complex projects, collaborate across teams, and mentor junior engineers. This role requires a hands-on approach, strategic thinking, and a passion for building reliable, scalable AI systems that solve real-world business challenges. You will also contribute to defining technical standards, best practices, and innovation in predictive AI within the organization. Qualifications Extensive experience delivering high-impact, cross-team machine learning projects. Strong desire to remain hands-on in technical work while providing leadership and mentorship. Proven track record of developing solutions that significantly influence organizational business goals. Ability to provide strategic guidance for major projects and initiatives. Experience mentoring and teaching engineers and technical teams. Pragmatic decision-making and advanced problem-solving skills. Expertise in a broad range of ML techniques including deep learning, transformers, large language models, transfer learning, optimization, and regression. Proficiency with ML tools such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc. Strong understanding of ML architecture design tailored to business requirements. Ability to analyze and interpret both offline and online metrics, considering privacy, bias, security, and maintainability. Passion for building scalable, reliable AI systems. Deep knowledge of predictive AI concepts such as recommendation systems, classification, ranking, and relevancy. Alignment with engineering team values and a collaborative mindset. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy advanced predictive models and AI solutions that meet business needs. Lead technical projects from conception through implementation, ensuring high quality and scalability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to translate requirements into effective ML solutions. Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Evaluate and optimize model performance using a variety of metrics, ensuring models are fair, secure, and maintainable. Identify opportunities where machine learning can add value in adjacent areas beyond core projects. Develop and implement best practices for ML architecture, deployment, and monitoring. Stay current with the latest developments in AI and machine learning, integrating new techniques and tools as appropriate. Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards while maintaining ethical AI practices.
