Listed as a remote role based in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland. Job Summary: Realta is a dynamic and innovative technology company dedicated to reshaping the landscape of financial risk and compliance management. We seek a Platform Engineer with an automation-first mindset and focus on building cloud-native platforms to join our talented team at the Fraud & Risk Management Research & Development Centre of Excellence in Limerick. Position Overview: As the Platform Engineer, you will focus on designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure while collaborating with Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Security teams. Your work will directly support our platform that leverages the power of artificial intelligence to address complex challenges for fraud detection, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance in the financial industry. This role emphasizes cloud infrastructure optimization, cost efficiency, and alignment with architectural and security standards. What you’ll do: Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure (e.g., VPCs, subnets, storage tiers) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform. Optimize cloud resources for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency (e.g., auto-scaling, rightsizing, Reserved Instances). Harden cloud security configurations, including IAM roles, network security groups, WAF rules, and encryption standards. Implement and maintain cloud-native services (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Amazon Cognito, AWS ECS/Fargate, AWS EKS, etc). Configure observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK Stack, Prometheus) to monitor infrastructure health and performance. Collaborate with architects, devops, stakeholders and engineers to translate high-level designs into scalable, secure cloud implementations. Enforce tagging, resource limits, and other cloud governance standards. Manage relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB) with a focus on performance tuning and disaster recovery. Research new technologies, including hands-on technical evaluation and PoCs. Participate in conversations and workshops with stakeholders to understand requirements and identify solutions and opportunities. Troubleshoot issues related to platform services and components, including identifying and remediating cloud infrastructure security vulnerabilities within established SLAs, diagnosing data replication latency spikes, and analyzing system logs and storage capacity constraints to prevent resource throttling. Document infrastructure designs, operational procedures, and cost optimization strategies. What we need from you: 3+ years of hands-on experience with major cloud providers. Strong expertise in AWS is favored, although individuals with extensive GCP or Azure proficiency and a desire to adapt will be considered. 3+ years of experience in application development or DevOps space. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like HCL (Terraform/OpenTofu), or CloudFormation. Strong understanding of cloud networking (e.g., VPC, Route53, CloudFront, VPN, DNS, load balancers) and security best practices. Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus) and performance tuning (e.g., DB indexing, caching). Experience with Linux system administration and scripting languages (Python, Bash). Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or relevant experience. Nice to have: Understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB). Knowledge of cost optimization strategies (e.g., FinOps, storage lifecycle policies). Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS EKS, AWS ECS) and serverless architectures (e.g., Lambda, Step Functions). Proven ability to develop or support continuous delivery frameworks using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab. Experience working in the financial services, financial technology and risk management industry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable discussing technical information. Additional information: This is a hybrid role - as part of our hybrid work model, employees are expected to be onsite at our Limerick City office on in-office days.
