Program Director I - Health Programs

JobSummary: The Program Director, Health Programs Group(HPG), overseesaportfolioofprojectsfunded by the U.S. Government and other donorsinaspecificcountry/region.The projects span a range of technical focus areas, including HIV, global health security and outbreak response, maternalandchild health, and malaria.:Reporting to theSeniorDirector,Program Portfolio,HPG, the Program Directorserves as the primary representativefortheir assignedportfolio.The Program Director works collaboratively withHPG leadership,global projectleadership,GlobalOperations andServices’(GOS)SeniorDirectors, Regional Hubs and enterprise services staff to ensure that projects within their portfolioare able toimplement in an efficient and compliant manner in alignment with approvedcontracting mechanisms,workplans and budgets.Theydirectlysupervise a team ofproject staff (Associate Directors, Project Managers and/or Project Directors/Chiefs of Party)responsible for direct implementation of the projectsand country activitieswithin their portfolio. Through a matrixed approach, they willwork closely withglobalproject leadership teamswith projectsin the portfolioto ensure that country teams areable to implement successfully. The Program Director works to ensure country-level coordination between projects to provide a holistic approach to project implementation to limitproject and organizationalrisks, streamline processes and decision making,guaranteeeffective communication betweenHPGleadership and the countries,and ensure that project needs are met in a compliant manner. They work closely with Finance staff to ensure projectsremainwithin budget and are in sound fiscal health. They ensure strong collaboration with donors(asappropriate),partners, andlocal stakeholdersthrough the project lifecycle.May serve as a management backstop for select assigned projects.TheProgram Director builds the skills and capabilities of their direct reports within their assigned portfolio.
