Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a high-visibility TSA program. This role is responsible for architecting, engineering, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring alignment with DHS/TSA security, compliance, and operational requirements. Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure and platform services across AWS and Azure in support of mission objectives Lead cloud engineering efforts across IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid environments Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM, Bicep, or CloudFormation Ensure compliance with DHS security frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP) Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure architectures Support cloud migration initiatives and legacy system modernization Monitor performance, availability, and cost optimization Troubleshoot complex cloud/system issues and provide root cause analysis Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership Partner with stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical solutions Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6 years, Associate’s with 10 years, or High School diploma with 12 years of experience U.S. Citizenship, must have the ability to obtain / maintain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance. 5 years of overall IT experience, including 4+ years focused on cloud engineering (AWS and Azure) Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure VMs, App Services, AKS, Azure AD, AWS EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation) Strong understanding of networking concepts (VNETs/VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers) Experience supporting systems within federal or regulated environments (DHS, DoD, or similar) Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Action
