We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II for the Action Runtime team. This team's mission is to build the execution layer for AI agents: tool execution environments and orchestration systems that let agents run code and take actions safely, fast, and at scale. You will help define what "good" looks like for agent execution at DigitalOcean — isolation guarantees, cold-start latency, throughput under concurrent agent load — then design, build, ship, measure, and operate those systems end to end. This is a senior individual contributor role for a builder who can independently move from ambiguous customer and business needs to product planning, design and UX collaboration, technical design, production implementation, launch, and long-term maintenance. You should be comfortable working full-stack, partnering across product, design, and engineering, and making pragmatic technical choices in fast-moving agent tooling ecosystems. What You'll Do Independently own and ship product features within Action Infrastructure from planning through design, implementation, launch, operations, and maintenance with high autonomy. Build production-grade third-party agent tools and supporting infrastructure, including MCP servers, tool schemas, authentication and secrets handling, rate limiting, observability, and safe execution boundaries. Create full-stack experiences for builders and operators to discover, configure, test, debug, and monitor agent tools. Collaborate closely with product, design, an
