Smart Factory Engineer

Who will you be working with? You will partner with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, information technology (IT), quality, engineering, and operations to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production through the integration of shop floor devices pursuant to Wabtec’s Industry 4.0 (I4.0) objectives. This role collaborates closely with plant leadership, frontline teams, and IT to ensure manufacturing processes meet customer and business requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives. How will you make a difference? As a member of the Operational Excellence Industry 4.0 team, you will lead Operational Technologies (OT) system deployments, support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), industrial networking, IIoT technologies, and machine connectivity solutions while ensuring cybersecurity, reliability, and operational excellence. You will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe delivery of quality products on time by driving I4.0 transformation, improving process reliability, and implementing innovative technologies. This role supports multiple sites. What do we want to know about you? Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, controls, OT, or Industry 4.0 environments. Experience with manufacturing systems integration and industrial automation technologies. Strong understanding of OT network architecture and industrial communication protocols. Experience supporting MES, SCADA, HMI, and historian systems. Knowledge of cloud and edge computing architectures within manufacturing environments. Demonstrated project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
