Software Engineer

Listed as a remote role based in Riga, Latvia. About the Role We are looking for a backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable distributed systems across the full product lifecycle. You will develop reliable backend services, ensure secure data exchange, and support high-availability deployments, working closely with engineering and production teams from concept to deployment. Key Responsibilities Backend Development: Develop, debug, and maintain backend software for distributed defence systems across embedded and general-purpose environments. System Integration: Collaborate on hardware–software co-design, defining robust interfaces and supporting system integration and verification. System Communications: Design and setup of system communications, including device configuration and network integration. Testing & Validation: Support integration testing, troubleshooting, and system validation. Performance & Reliability: Enhance deployment processes and system performance, ensuring robustness, reliability, and traceability. We Would Love You to Have Educational Background: A technical degree or diploma in software engineering, computer science or a related field. Experience: Backend development experience, preferably in distributed systems, with understanding of networking fundamentals and system communications. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python and C/C++, with Rust as a plus. Good understanding of network communication protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, SSL) and UNIX-based operating systems. Soft Skills: Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with exceptional communication skills. Delivery focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
