Staff Embedded Software Engineer
We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Embedded Software Platform team in Athens, Greece, part of Renesas' Embedded Processing group. You'll contribute in the architecture and development of the platform software - drivers, middleware, and RTOS — that runs on Renesas devices. Responsibilities Own the software architecture for embedded platform components — define interfaces, layering, and portability strategy across Renesas device families, and make the build-vs-adopt and design trade-off calls Lead the technical execution of embedded software projects end to end: break down scope, identify risk early, resolve cross-team dependencies, and keep delivery on track against schedule and quality targets Provide technical leadership across the team — set coding, review, and testing standards Design, develop, and maintain platform software hands-on, including low-level drivers, middleware, and RTOS integration Own the quality of delivered software, from architecture and design review through verification and release Plan and estimate work for yourself and the project team, manage competing priorities across parallel efforts, and report status and risk to project and engineering leadership Mentor and grow senior and junior engineers through design review, code review, and direct technical coaching Work closely with hardware, silicon, applications, and product teams, and represent the team's technical position to internal stakeholders and customers Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 10+ years of embedded software development experience in consumer electronics, automotive, medical, or a similar domain Proven track record architecting embedded software platforms that shipped in volume, including ownership of designs across multiple product generations Expert C programming skills and deep experience designing software for deeply embedded, resource-constrained platforms Deep knowledge of 8/1
