TECH402: Cloud Infrastructure Lead

About JerseySTEM All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions. Areas of Focus – Azure Hosting & Administration, AWS Infrastructure, Migration, Cloud Governance AWS Infrastructure Operations: Design, maintain, and support secure AWS environments across compute, storage, networking, account structure, and operational practices that complement JerseySTEM ’s Azure-hosted services. Azure Hosting & Administration: Administer Azure-hosted applications, data services, and supporting infrastructure, including tenant configuration, subscriptions, resource groups, access controls, monitoring, and core service settings. Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain AWS infrastructure using repeatable, version-controlled practices with tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to improve consistency, reliability, and speed of deployment. Hosting Migration & Platform Integration: Support the migration from legacy hosting environments onto hyper scalers, coordinating application hosting, data warehouse hosting, identity integration, networking, and operational handoff. Identity & Access Operations: Oversee practical identity and access controls across Azure and AWS, including role design, permission management, account lifecycle processes, and secure access standards. Reliability & Service Continuity: Establish backup, monitoring, logging, and recovery practices across cloud services to support service continuity and operational resilience. Cost & Resource Optimization: Monitor Azure subscriptions, licensing, hosted services, and AWS usage to identify waste, improve efficiency, and recommend right-sized solutions aligned to a nonprofit budget. Governance & Standards: Define lightweight cloud standards, documentation, and operational guardrails that enable volunteer contributors to manage AWS and Azure responsibly and consistently.
