Full Stack Engineer

Listed as a remote role based in Poland. We have an immediate requirement for a Full Stack Engineer with one of our start-up clients in Houston TX USA. The position is long term contract and Remote. Need to work during CST business hours. We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong backend expertise to help build and scale the core APIs powering our healthcare analytics platform. This role is primarily backend-focused, with some frontend ownership to support product features and user experience in our React application. You’ll work on high-impact systems handling complex data pipelines, secure integrations, and performant APIs — while collaborating closely with front end, product, data, and clinical stakeholders. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable Node.js APIs that serve as the foundation of our platform and enable seamless data exchange across healthcare systems. Build and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to ensure reliable, efficient storage and retrieval of large-scale data. Ensure backend systems are secure, resilient, and performant through monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to define API specifications and deliver solutions aligned with clinical and business goals. Work on front end single page application in ReactJS, TypeScript (strict) and Vite Participate in code reviews, debugging, and architectural discussions to maintain high engineering standards and drive technical excellence. Stay up to date with Node.js, cloud, React and API development best practices to continuously enhance our stack and engineering culture. Requirements Backend (Primary focus): Proven experience developing and scaling APIs with Node.js in production environments Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles, data integration patterns, and backend system design. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar databases, including schema design and query optimization. Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for deployment and scaling. Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and backend performance optimization. Knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection for healthcare and enterprise use cases. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a distributed, collaborative team environment. Frontend (Secondary focus): Build and maintain React + TypeScript (strict) UI components and SPA features. Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver clean, performant user interfaces. Integrate frontend workflows with backend APIs and authentication flows. Maintain high frontend quality standards (code structure, performance, accessibility). Nice to Have Experience with healthcare, fintech, or regulated data platforms. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing strategies. Experience with API versioning, schema migrations, and zero-downtime deployments. High-load API development, establishing monitoring and observability standards Exposure to event streaming (Pub/Sub, Kafka, queues) or data pipelines.
