Platform Engineer
Listed as a remote role based in Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden.
About the role Join a fourteen-person engineering team rebuilding a logistics platform, and own everything data on it. You write the infrastructure, the pipelines, and the platform they run on, working directly with the CTO & platform lead. Zendr is rebuilding its platform, and data is the next thing we build properly. We're looking for an engineer at heart who has specialized in data, not a data specialist who needs an engineering team around them. You'll be our first dedicated data hire, sitting in the platform team and working directly with the CTO and the platform lead. You will largely take ownership of everything data end to end: the AWS infrastructure it runs on, the ingestion from our operational databases, the transformations, and the analytics layer the business actually uses. There is no separate infra team to hand things to. You provision what you need, you write the infrastructure as code, and you answer for the cloud bill. Engineering at Zendr is fourteen people across four small teams. At that size nobody gets to sit inside a narrow role, and that's the appeal: the person we hire will shape architecture decisions that the company lives with for years, and there will be opportunity to grow into leading a data team as we scale. You won't inherit a mature data stack and just keep it running. There may already be an early foundation in place by the time you start. Either way the platform is yours to take ownership of and grow. What you'll do Design and build out the data platform on AWS, including the infrastructure itself Build pipelines that move data out of operational MongoDB and legacy MySQL into a governed analytical store Give the business trustworthy, consistent metrics, starting with the executive team and growing into self-service Make data available to AI workflows with sensible governance Own data quality, monitoring, and cost Who we think you are A senior engineer who has built and run production systems, and spent the recent years focused on data You've built a data platform before, ideally in a small team where you did the infrastructure too Comfortable owning an AWS account: IaC, networking basics, cost awareness Pragmatic about tooling. Our volumes don't call for a big-name stack, and we'd rather you rightsize than build a résumé You get energy from building and owning things, and it shows when you talk about your work What we expect you've worked with 7+ years building production systems, with solid recent experience in data engineering AWS data services such as S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions Infrastructure as code (we use Pulumi, but Terraform or CDK experience translates fine) Python, and data modeling for layered analytical architectures Both batch and streaming pipelines Serverless and event-driven patterns Datadog or similar observability tooling Nice to have MongoDB, especially Atlas and Change Streams TypeScript or Go Exposing data to LLM workflows (connectors, MCP) BI tooling, set up and owned end to end for real stakeholders Logistics or freight domain knowledge This role is not for you if You want a well-defined data engineering lane with infrastructure handled by someone else You're more excited about a particular tool stack than about the problem in front of you You prefer a large organisation where the platform is already mature and your job is to maintain it We think the right person reads that list and gets more interested, not less. What we offer A data platform to take from its early foundation and own as it grows Direct architectural influence alongside the CTO and Platform Lead A modern serverless stack on AWS with MongoDB A 70+ person company where your work is visible and matters Interesting data problems in the logistics domain A team that values pragmatism over theoretical purity Our hiring process We respect your time and aim to make the recruitment journey fast, transparent and enjoyable. The process may look roughly like this: Application review – We'll review your application promptly and get back to you within a few days. First conversation – An informal video call to learn more about you and share who we are. Coding assignment – A task you'll be handed at this step to better understand your technical expertise. Technical interview – A meeting discussing the assignment to better understand your reasoning and decision making. Final meeting – Meet the team, talk through the role in detail, and see if we're the right fit for each other. Exact steps may vary slightly depending on the role and timing, but from first contact to final decision you can expect clear communication, timely feedback, and respect for your time – because great talent deserves a great candidate experience. Additional information We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to get back to you promptly.
